What is a headcover?

A headcover, also called a golf club cover, is a protective cover that slips over the head of a golf club. It protects the club against scratches and knocks during transport and storage. Headcovers are most used on the driver, the woods, the hybrids and the putter.

Which clubs do I need a headcover for?

Mainly the clubs with a large or vulnerable head: the driver, your fairway woods, hybrids and the putter. Irons are less often covered separately, though headcover sets specifically for irons do exist. Wedges and chippers usually don't get a cover.

Do headcovers fit every club?

Headcovers are usually made per club type so they fit snugly. A driver cover is bigger than a wood cover, and putter covers differ between mallet and blade putters. So check the type of club the cover is intended for.
